Why I Pity the Human Race.

Where to start…

Well, a few years ago, I met this guy Josh [names changed] at a friend’s house. He was cute and everything, but my other, more outgoing friends (I wasn’t nearly as outgoing as I am now then) were flirting with him, and I just decided to linger back.

So then, in about August or September, I found him on MySpace (see why I got rid of it?) and added him. We started talking a bit, and I had kind of suspected he was flirting, but he had this girlfriend, Julie, who he was “in love” with (I have other thoughts on teen love. See “sharpies” at archivedcoffin.wordpress.com) and I honestly didn’t think he’d have the guts to flirt with someone else.

Well, I turned out to be wrong, and we exchanged pictures and webcam (Yes, I was a skank. We’ll talk later). Soon, things started getting a little emotional. It continued like that until the end of November or so, when I finally was sick of being second place, and told him to choose. We’d had this discussion before, and he’d said he couldn’t choose, blah blah blah.

But this time, he said that I meant nothing.
That I was something to screw, and that was about it.

I mean, choosing her over me is understandable. After all, it was his girlfriend. But he resorted to such hurtful things. I locked myself in my room and cried for hours. I mean, I really don’t take it well when someone says things just to hurt me. Or anyone else for that matter (Constructive criticism is a completely different story). But, after what happened last summer with Tyler, I realized that Julie needed to know.

Well, he got to her first and told her I was some compulsive liar out to destroy their relationship because he didn’t like me, or something acceptably childish. Things continued for a while, and no amount of logic I provided to her convinced her that what I was saying was true.

Well, today, Josh instant messaged me and told me to leave her alone, and that he was sick of my crap.

I told him that he was denying her natural rights as a human, and that, if he really loved her, he would respect her enough to tell her the truth.

Of course he totally blew me off.

But such is the way of man. We do something wrong, and we refuse to take the blame. And we manipulate the people around us to believe what we want them to believe and-what’s worse-what we want to believe ourselves.

Pride at work.

It’s called convenient thinking, and it’s bigger than some high school drama about a cheating boyfriend. People have and always will use ignorance as a weapon. So we don’t have to take responsibility for our actions. So we don’t have to deal with the consequences.

And it’s going to kill us.

Now, the thing is, I gave Josh a chance to come clean, and he didn’t take it. And, one day, it’s all going to crash around him. And he won’t have anything to hold onto. People are hypocrites. They don’t like liars. They don’t like hypocrites. They don’t like cheaters. They stomp them into the soil like bugs.

And that’s what’s going to happen to him one day.

It’s such a shame.

I love every person on this earth, no matter what they do to me. They’re human. They hurt other humans.

But not everyone thinks like me.
Not everyone is so merciful.

And he’s fed himself to the wolves.

And I get the gruesome task of sitting back and watching in horror as yet another man is taken by the clutches of his own pride.

Yet again.

Just a taste of the Apocalypse…
